Now I know I said I was a cat lady

but the truth is, thanks to my golden retriever, I am a total dog convert. When Laura of Laura Anderson Properties said she was interested in a photoshoot with her partner and new rescue pup, I was instantly thrilled. Wait, you mean you want to pay me to hang out with your puppy? Done!

World, meet Lois.

We Met at Golden Hour

There is this dreamy time of day about an hour after the sun begins to rise, when the light is golden and hazy perfection. I asked Laura and Alex to meet me at Fort Steilacoom Park, home to what I consider to be the best dog park in town. This place has it all; tall grass, old growth forest teeming with ferns and moss, old barns and impressive brick silos. Sweet Lois is working on her leash skills, so we found the perfect spot just outside of the dog park, nestled in the tall grass.

A Note on Styling

Laura and Alex are the perfect example of how a little preparation in styling goes a long way. In order to get more variation in their photos, the two brought along different wardrobe pieces. A quick hat and coat change made a big impact on the finished gallery! If you, like my husband, feel that plaid and polka dots are a match made in heaven, maybe you need a few styling pointers - I got you! However, your session is about capturing a moment in time that says "this is us" and maybe you are plaid and polka dots.
